FAQs on Therapy
How much do your sessions cost? Do you take insurance?
My full rate is $160 for an hour session. If this isn’t possible for you, let’s have a conversation about sliding scale options.
I am in network for Aetna, Cigna and Blue Cross Blue Shield. I’m also happy offer superbills for out of network care.
Is the 20-minute consultation free?
Yes, my 20-minute consultations are free.
I recommend you book a free consultation with any therapist you’re interested in working with to determine if they’re a good fit for you before starting therapy.
Why should I work with you?
You may have a hard time chosing a therapist in Boulder (or remotely) because there are so many great ones. That said, I do bring a unique perspective to my practice. To learn more about me, please visit my About Me page.
Why do you primarily work with women?
Most therapists will find a ‘niche’ of folks that they enjoy working with and feel they can best serve. For me, this ‘niche’ is women who are teenagers, 20 somethings, and moms of any age.
I find my lived experience, strengths, and outlook are best for supporting women through the challenges they regularly face.
Does gender matter when looking for a therapist?
No, gender does not necessarily matter when you’re looking for a therapist.
What does matter is that you find someone you connect with, and who can help you reach your personal therapy goals. That’s why it’s so important to book a 20-minute consultation before you start therapy.
It’s an easy way to determine if someone is a good fit for you.
How many therapy sessions will it take to feel better?
There is no exact number of therapy sessions that will make you feel better. For full disclosure, you will normally feel worse before you feel better. Uncovering hard truths and tackling pain or disappointment in your life isn’t easy.
But, once you do make it through to the other side, you’ll likely find therapy is incredibly rewarded and beneficial to your overall life and happiness.
What are the pros of working with a therapist virtually?
Working with a therapist virtually allows you to work with the right therapist, not just the therapist that’s closest to you. Rather than having to pick which therapist you’d like to work with in your town or city, you can pick a therapy professional anywhere in your state.
And, you do your therapy appointment from wherever you’re most comfortable as long as you have an internet connection.
What are the cons of going to therapy?
The two biggest cons of going to therapy is the time and monetary investment. Yet, most people feel like both are worthwhile investments once they begin going to therapy and seeing the results.
How often should you go to therapy?
There’s no prescribed amount of times you should go to therapy, rather it’s about what works best for helping you achieve your personal therapy goals. This could mean going to therapy once a month. Or it could mean going to therapy every week.
As your life changes, it could mean both over time – once a month for a couple of months, then once a week when something difficult comes up.
That said, just like anything, you get what you put into it. I recommend starting with weekly sessions if you’re able to. This is your best bet to build the best momentum towards the change you want.
